I think your symbolism of Rosemary as an angel is great! Like a spirit, she's also planning to leave and move far away.
Do you also see the connection between Rosemary and Rosie the elephant? At one point, Jacob talks about Rosie in his sleep, confusing Rosemary. Both have dark skin and protect those they like.
Oh yes that connection he make, they both be like hope for him. i not know what other representations to use in books/poems/movies/songs for this. it say you have to include a quote from another book/movie/poem/song that connect to chosen symbolism and it need to be referenced directly under quote.
