the time of the motion to the highest point is
t = vₒ/g = 50/9.8 = 5.1.
t1 = 8 – 5.1 = 2.9 s.
At the instant when we have to find
the velocity the ball is free falling during 2.9 s.
Its velocity is v =g•t =
= 9.8•2.9 = 28.42 m/s.
