Hi I'm writing a story and I had a question. I am saying that one person has to jump across this... well it is kind of a pit of doom... no ending... into eternal darkness... but anyways I need to know how far the average human can jump if they have a 3ft running start. I do know that with feet together it is 2ft, feet apart it is around 3ft, and diving it is around 4ft... I don't know if that helps any... heck I don't even know if you can answer this because it is not a homework question! But if you can Thanks

~Emma~

Hi Emma! I can definitely help you with that. While I don't have an exact answer for you, I can guide you on how to find the information you need.

To determine the average human jumping distance with a 3ft running start, you may need to look into studies or records that specifically measure long jump distances. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to find this information:

1. Start by using a search engine like Google and enter "average human long jump distance" or a similar search query.

2. Look for sources such as scientific studies, sports-related websites, or athletic associations that may have conducted research on long jump distances.

3. Once you find a reliable source, read through the information to see if it provides an average distance for a long jump with a 3ft running start. It might also provide statistics on different jumping techniques, which could be helpful for your story.

4. If you can't find an exact answer, try looking for records or world records in long jump events. These records often highlight extraordinary performances, which could give you an idea of the upper limits of human jumping ability.

Remember, the distances you provided (2ft with feet together, 3ft with feet apart, and 4ft with a dive) can serve as a general reference, but keep in mind that actual human jumping abilities may vary. Incorporating these general measurements into your story should provide a realistic basis for your character's actions.

Good luck with your story, and I hope this explanation helps you find the information you need! Let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.
