Use FOIL method to multiply (First, Outer, Inner, Last):
2x^2 - 8x + 3x - 12
Combine like terms:
2x^2 - 5x - 12
And there you have it!
(2x + 3)(x - 4) =
2x + 3 + 1x - 4 =
2x + 1x + 3 -4=
3x - 1
