text book = 50 + (2 x Z)
let Z= workbook
textbook + workbook = 230 pages
[50+(2Z)] + Z = 230
50 + 3Z =230
3Z= 180
z= 60
Text book = 50 + 2Z
text book = 50 + 2(60)
Text book = 170
REMEMBER:
50 more, really means "plus 50" in an equation
2 time the number of pages a work book, really mean "2Z" where Z = work book
