Science scores for HS seniors in the US are normally distributed with a mean of 77 and a standard deviation of 7. Students scoring in the top 4% are eligible for a special prize. What is the approximate cutoff score a student must get in order to recieve the prize?

Z = (score-mean)/SD

Find table in the back of your statistics text labeled something like "areas under normal distribution" to find the proportion (.04) related to the Z score and solve the equation.
