**bobpursley**, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 9:00pmsubtract one equation from the other:

y-y=3x-1 - (-2x+9)

0=3x-1+2x-9

0=5x-10

5x=10

x=2

Now, put that x into the first equation

y=3(2)-1=5

solved.
