(112 - 38) x 14 divided by 7 + 142
74 * 14 / 149
1036 / 149 = 6.953
but the answer choices on my homework sheet said
A)178
B)278
C)290
D)390
there is no 6.953!!!
Most textbooks will give a the mnemonic BEDMAS to remember the order of operation
B -- brackets done first
E -- any exponents
D -- division in the order they come
M --multiplication in the order they come
A -- addition in the order they come
S -- subtraction in the order they come
= 74 * 14/7 + 142
= 74 * 2 + 142
= 148 + 142
= 290
