74 * 14 / 149
1036 / 149 = 6.953

but the answer choices on my homework sheet said

B)278
C)290
D)390
there is no 6.953!!!

Most textbooks will give a the mnemonic BEDMAS to remember the order of operation
B  brackets done first
E  any exponents
D  division in the order they come
M multiplication in the order they come
A  addition in the order they come
S  subtraction in the order they come
= 74 * 14/7 + 142
= 74 * 2 + 142
= 148 + 142
= 290
