I would multiply the 2nd by 2 to get
y = 2x - 4
now we can equate y = y
2x-4 = (1/4)x - 1
times 4
8x - 16 = x - 4
7x = 12
x = 12/7
then y = 24/7 - 4 = -4/7
x = 12/7, y = -4/7
