1 3 / 7 = 7 / 7 + 3 / 7 = 10 / 7

9 / ( 10 / 7 ) = 9 * 7 / 10 = 63 /10 = 6.3

Are these *square* yards of fabric? If not, you need the width of the fabric to come to an answer. If so, it needs to be indicated in your question.
