Homework Help: Pre-Algebra

6y+8=-3y-28 Here is what I did
6y+8-8=-3y-28-8
6y=-3y+20
6y-(-3y)=-3y-(-3y)+20
3y/3 = 20/3
y=6.66666666667
what did I do wrong

you added 8 and made it 20 when really it should be -36 on the right side

6y = -3y -36
+3y +3y

9y = -36
divide both sides by 9

y = -4
