a carpeting store is having a special sale, offering carpeting at $16.50 per square yard. Its competitor is offering carpeting at $1.90 per square foot. Which store is less expensive? By how much?

    1.9/ft^2 * 9 ft^2/yd^2 = 17.1/yd^2
    so the 16.5 is cheaper
