solve
3|x-8|=2x+7
i not get how to solve this the 3 infront of absolute value bracket confusing me.
This is not calculus. The 3 in front of |x-8| means 3 times |x-8|.
Solve these two cases separately:
If x>8
3x -24 = 2x + 7
x = 31
If x < 8
24 - 3x = 2x + 7
5x = 17
x = 17/5
3(x-8) = 2x+7 or 3(-x+8) = 2x+7
3x - 24 = 2x+7 OR -3x + 24 = 2x+7
x = 31 OR -5x = -17
x = 31 or x = 17/5
but 2x+7 ≥0 by definition of absolute value
x ≥ -7/2
both answers are correct
x = 31 or x = 17/5=3.4
