Eight circular holes, each of diameter 3m are cut in the sheet, so that none of the holes overlap. Calculate the volume of metal remaining, correct to 3 decimal places (Take pi=3.142)

P.S. Working out please

**Reiny**, Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 5:23pmvolume without holes = 32(16)(.012) = 6.144 m^3

each hole = π(1.5)^2 (.012) = .027π

so 8 holes = .216π m^3

remaining volume = 6.144 - .216π = 5.47

( I used π on my calculator, if you got it, why not use it ?)
