Two sides of a triangle have lengths 8 and 17. Which inequalities represent the possible lengths for the third side, x?
a) 9 < x < 25
b) 9 < x < 17
c) 9 < x < 8
d) 8 < x < 17

    No side can be greater than the sum of the other two
    It can not be more than 8+17 = 25
    It can not be less than 17-8 = 9
