16 = x * 4 / 2 Multiply both sides with 2

32 = 4 x Divide both sides with 4

8 = x

x = 8 in

P = x + 2 y = 16

16 = 8 + 2 y

16 - 8 = 2 y

8 = 2 y Divide both sides with 2

8 / 2 = y

4 = y

y = 4 in
