Sandy decided to give onefourth of her CDs to Jenn. Then she gives onehalf of the remaining CDs to Bob. If she is left with 6 CDs,how many CDs did she have to begin with?

Let X be the original number of CDs owned.
X  X/4 (1/2)(3X/4) = 6
3X/4 3X/8 = 3X/8 = 6
X = 16
