I have some questions about using ser or estar

1.If I am from a place I would use soy and if I am in a place I would use estoy?
2.If you are sick, I would use estás-form of estar?
3.¿Dónde están ellos?

Sorry the post is so odd but I couldn't actually post the Yo soy de Brazil or Yo estoy en Brazil for the first two or the other two where I asked if you were enfermo would I use the estar form

Yes, and please refer to my more complete answer in your later post.

Why aren't u teacher if my kids good this but y'all are over here teaching bad things

1. Yes, you are correct. The verb "ser" is used to express permanent or inherent qualities, such as nationality or place of origin. So, if you are from a certain place, you would use "soy" + place (e.g., "Soy de México" - I am from Mexico). On the other hand, the verb "estar" is used to express temporary states or locations. So, if you are currently in a place, you would use "estoy" + place (e.g., "Estoy en la tienda" - I am in the store).

2. Absolutely! When expressing a temporary condition, like being sick, you would use the verb "estar" in the appropriate form. For example, "Estás enfermo/a" (You are sick).

3. "¿Dónde están ellos?" translates to "Where are they?" In this sentence, "están" is the third-person plural form of the verb "estar" which indicates the location or temporary state of the subject "ellos" (they). So, you are correctly using "estar" to ask about the current whereabouts of other people.
