area of playground + area of path = total area

area of path = total area - area of playground

The path has the same dimensions on each side because it surrounds a square. Thus, 7 meters is added onto each side of the square playground, and the total of each side becomes 67m.

Find the total area:

67m * 67m = 4489m^{2}

Area of the square playground:

60m * 60m = 3600m^{2}

4489m^{2}- 3600^{2}= 889m^{2}
