1)How many protons and electrons are in a sulfate ion SO4^2- ?

I know the answer is 48 protons and 50 electrons but i do not know how to get this from the ion.

2) What is the charge on a sulfide ion?

The answer is -2 but im not sure why. Is sulfide always -2?

What's the atomic number of S? 16?

What's the atomic number of O? 8?
16 + (4*8) = 48

atomic no of sulphur =16

atomic no of oxygen=8
so4^-2
so 16+8(4)+2=50

oh i see thank you!!!

Because it have 48 electron and charged is -2

So total electron= 48+2=50
Hence 50 electron in so4

total no of electron is 50 as 16+32+2

total no of proton is 48
total no of neutron is 48

Anyone please calculate the number of protons in 24 gram of SO4^2- at STP

Hi DrBob222, how the electron became 50?

100 because ik it is 100

As u know about the no of electrons then, To find charge in coulumb in one sulphate ion. just do this - charge present on sulphate ion ie- (2 cross charge present in an electron(1.6 cross 10 to the power -19.)

.)

What a silly question 'Eunji'
