six familys split the cost of a family reunion. each family also spends $65 for a hotel room. Each familys share of the cost of the party plus the cost of the hotel room totlas $160. write and solve and equation to find the cost of the reunion.
i don't know how to do this without knowing how many days they are staying at the hotel? or can i still do this problem?
im stuck.

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
Ms. Sue,
I think you have to assume that each family stays at the motel just one night.

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
marko,
so 65.00 + r/6 + $160.00

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
Ms. Sue,
You haven't written an equation.

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
marko,
65.00 + r/6 + $160.00

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
Ms. Sue,
An equation needs an equal sign.

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
marko,
65.00 + r/6 = $160.00

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
Ms. Sue,
That answer doesn't make any sense.
In your equation r = 15.83
You need to find the total cost of the reunion party.
algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
marko,
$160.00 /6 = x

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
Ms. Sue,
Nope!
Each family pays $160. Of that amount, $65 is for the hotel room.
6(160  65) = t
algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
marko,
t = 570.00

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
Ms. Sue,
Right. Doesn't that make sense?

algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
mackenzie,
6(16065)=p
16065= 95
6(95)=p
p= $570
algeBRA WORD PROBLEM
billy,
thank u MacKenzie
