i need to find the outlier of each set of data. and I need to describe how the outlier affects the mean?

1) 75 72 74 46 77 70 80 68

2) -15 -12 -19- 0 -20 -14

3) 5.3 5.1 5.2 14.7 5.8 5.9 5.4

4) 4 -1 -16 2 0 -3 6 -2

i got for the outlier the highest value below/ but not sure show how to describe how the outlier affects the mean?
1) 80
2) im not sure?
3) 14.7
4) 6

You are not necessarily looking for the high outlier. It could be the lowest number.

1) All but one of the numbers is between 68 and 80.

2) Which number does not have double digits?

3) Your answer is right.

4) Your answer is wrong.

One way to describe how the outlier affects the mean is to find the mean with and without it.

Why highest value? You have number 3) right, the others wrong.

1) the outlier is 46

and the mean is : 70.25 the affect of the outlier of 46 is that it raises the mean of the data - would that be right?

2) the outlier is : 0 is that right?
im not sure how to add this up to find the mean

3) the outlier is 14.7
the mean is 6.77 - would the affect be the same as #1

4) the outlier is : 0
again i don't know how to find the mean

1) The outlier is 46. Removing it raises the mean.

2) Do it the same way, but the mean is a negative number.

3) Your outlier is correct. Removing it will not raise the mean.

4) I'm not sure what numbers are included in this set. Please list them in column form.

#4) data set:

4
-1
-16
2
0
-3
6
-2

the outlier is -16
i don't understand how to add this up to find out what the mean is

Follow the same procedure I showed you in the other post.

Add the positive numbers. Add the negative numbers. Subtract.

#2 the outliers is :0

the mean is -11.66
removing the outlier will not raise the mean.

#3 the outlier si 14.7
with the outlier the mean is; 6.77
without the outlier mean is: 5.45
so removing the outlier will not raise the mean

#4 ok so i added the positiv got: 12
added the negative got - 22
now what do i do?
and i think i still divide by 8
pls help? with this one
