find each product mentally using the distributive property

i know for 4 (10.2) i do this
= 4 (10 + 2)
= 4 (10) + 4 (2)
= 40. + .8
= 40.8
but I am not sure how to show work on on following 2 problems:
11.6 (9)

and 3.4 (5)

Three ways you could do the multiplication mentally:

9(11.6)=9*10 + 9*1.6 = 90 + 14.4 = 104.4

9(11.6)=9*11 + 9*0.6 = 99 + 5.4 = 104.4

11.6(9)= 11.6*(10-1) =116 - 11.6 = 104.4

To find the product of 11.6 (9) using the distributive property, you can do the following:

1. Write 11.6 as the sum of its whole and decimal parts: 11 + 0.6.
2. Distribute the 9 across both parts:
11.6 (9) = (11 + 0.6) (9)
= 11 (9) + 0.6 (9)

Now, calculate each part separately:

1. 11 (9) = 99 (multiply the whole numbers)
2. 0.6 (9) = 5.4 (multiply the decimal parts)

Finally, add the two results together:

99 + 5.4 = 104.4

Therefore, 11.6 (9) equals 104.4.

To find the product of 3.4 (5) using the distributive property, you can follow a similar process:

1. Write 3.4 as the sum of its whole and decimal parts: 3 + 0.4.
2. Distribute the 5 across both parts:
3.4 (5) = (3 + 0.4) (5)
= 3 (5) + 0.4 (5)

Now, calculate each part separately:

1. 3 (5) = 15 (multiply the whole numbers)
2. 0.4 (5) = 2 (multiply the decimal part)

Finally, add the two results together:

15 + 2 = 17

Therefore, 3.4 (5) equals 17.
