Need help with this problem Substitution

5x-3y=-11 (1)
3x+2y=1 (2)

Equation ( 2 )

3x + 2y = 1

2y = 1 -3 x Divide both sides with 2

y = 1 / 2 - 3x / 2

Equation ( 1 )

5x - 3y = -11

5x - 3 * ( 1 / 2 - 3x / 2 ) = -11

5x - 3 / 2 + 9x / 2 = -11

(Remark: 5 = 10 / 2 , 11 = 22 / 2)

10x / 2 + 9x / 2 = -22 / 2 + 3 / 2

19x / 2 = -19 / 2 Multipy both sides with 2

19x = -19 Divide both sides with 19

x = -1

y = 1 / 2 - 3x / 2

y = 1 / 2 - 3 * ( -1 ) / 2

y= 1 / 2 + 3 / 2

y = 4 / 2

y = 2

x = - 1 , y = 2
