The school play sold 498 tickets. Students paid $3.50 each, while non-students paid $5.50 each. If a total of $2121.00 was collected, how many students and how many non-students attended?

student tickets ---- x
non-student tickets -- 498-x

solve for x

3.5x + 5.5(498-x) = 2121
35x + 55(498-x) = 21210

take it from there.
