t=-13/2

5(-13/2)+1+8=3(-13/2)-2)+6

13=-39/2+65/2
13=26/2
13=13

your solution is correct

in the check, most educators would expect you to work on each side independently and use
LS = .....
RS = .....
ending up with LS = RS

so you would have
LS = 5(-13/2)+1+8
= -65/2+5 + 8
= - 32.5 + 13
= -19.5

RS = 3(-13/2)-2)+6
= -39/2 -6 + 6
= -39/2
= - 19.5
= LS

so t = -13/2
