solve by substitution method.
5m+n=36
m-5n=54

the everton college store paid 1,859.00 for an order of 49 caculators the store paid 11.00 for each scientific calculator. the others ,all graphing caculators, cost the store 55.00 each. how many of each type of caculators was ordered?

from the 2nd ----> m = 5n+54
sub that into the 1st
5(5n+54) + n = 36
25n + 270 + n = 36
26n = -234
n = -9
put that back into m = 5n+54 to get m = +9

number of scientific -- x
number of thers ---y

x+y = 49
11x 55y = 1859
reduce that by dividing each term by 11
x + 5y = 169

solve the same way as I showed you above
