I can't see that these families are "new middle class," since the parents all have been middle class for a while.
The only description that seems to fit these families is "first generation."
My daughter-in-law teaches second grade in a similar school. The parents of her students are primarily Chinese and Indian. They, too, have chosen this school because of its reputation for academics.
