1) In the indirect interior monologue the narrator comments upon the thoughts of the character and maintains logical and grammatical organization.
Be sure to put a comma after "monologue" -- and replace "and" with "yet" because you are setting up a type of contrast.
Then it'll make good sense, as you want it to.
