Let x equal the number of girls.
Cross multiply and solve for x.
5/8 = x/80
8x = 400
x = 50
5+3=8
50+30=80
If for every 5 girls there are 3 boys, then for 50 girls there are 30 boys and 50+30=80 students in math club.
