Could you please check these two sentence? Thank you.

The deposit I paid for the hotel room will be retained (??) by the hotel if I cancel my booking a week before due/arrival.
2) In Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (in italics) the storm, for example, is represented as a huge bird, chasing the ship with its large wings.

1. "retained" is correct; use "arrival" instead of "due."

2. All is correct except that the title should be in quotation marks because it's a poem, not a book.
