Homework Help: Computer science

Does anyone know what or how to solve these symbols in a formula???
Ą and € .. I know they are currency symbols... Yen and Euro but if it is put in a formula it means something else and I am unable to find out what they are.. Thx for helping.

Can you post the formula containing these symbols to give an idea of the context?
As far as I know, they do not have mathematical significance aside from identifying currency.
