25cm3 of a solution of 0.1mol dm-3 NaoH reacts with 50cm3 of a solution of hydrochloric acid.What is the molarity of the acid

  • chemistry - ,

    Write the equation and balance it.
    HCl + NaOH ==> NaCl + H2O

    How many moles NaOH were used? moles = M x L = ??
    Using the coefficients in the balanced equation, convert moles NaOH to moles HCl. You can see that it is a 1:1 ratio of NaOH to HCl; therefore, moles NaOH = moles HCl.
    Then M HCl = moles HCl/L HCl. You know mole and L, solve for M.
