a. x + y = 38 therefore
x = 38-y
b. 175X + 200y = 7200 (expressed in thousands)
Substitute 38-y for x in last equation and solve for y. Insert that value into the first equation and solve for x. Check by inserting both values into the last equation.
I used substitution rather than elimination.
