What would cause rain water puddle to turn black in color

Hmmmm. Nightfall?

I suspect fine black sand, held in suspension.

Hey did you ever figure out the answer? I have this going on right now after a rain.

I wish I could tell you, I only found this site because I live right near a old spring, high alkaline soil. ( Russian olive trees like the dirt )

I'm trying to find out why the water turns copper. Just very curious. And the water came from rain water. The soil is holding it in puddles, I water ten feet away and it is normal muddy water. Still alkaline soil. Just harder. I'm curious to know about the black water.

Thank you.

Curious about the black water * also
Thank you

It's caused by weak ozone layers

There could be several reasons why rainwater puddles may appear black in color. Here are a few possible explanations:

1. Pollution: Heavy rainfall can wash pollutants, such as dirt, dust, soot, and industrial residue, into the water, turning it black or dark brown. These contaminants can come from urban areas, vehicle emissions, factories, or nearby construction sites.

2. Organic matter: Black coloration in rainwater puddles can also be attributed to the accumulation of organic material, such as decomposing leaves, algae, or other plant matter. This organic debris can break down in the water, causing it to become darker in appearance.

3. Displaced sediment: Rainwater can cause disruption in the earth and dislodge sediment or mud. When this sediment gets mixed with the water, it can give puddles a blackish color.

To determine the specific cause of black-colored rainwater puddles, it would be helpful to consider the surrounding environment and any potential pollution sources, observe the presence of organic matter, or assess the type of sediment or debris found in the puddle. Additionally, testing the water for pollutants or consulting local authorities or environmental agencies could provide further insights.
