Ms. Sue - thank you for your answer. i understand the second question now but i really don't know much why. is it because at that time people hate blacks like the kkk during the restoration period?i think john stole something else. it says in the book that they ask John if he felt like sleeping with some more white women; and they said, "you steal too, hush !@#$%^& your eyes, you do steal."please answer I

I'm not familiar with this book. I also don't know to what "time" you refer. I don't know what he stole.

However, throughout most of American history, many whites have become unglued and irrational at the thought of black men having sexual relations with white women.
