**Ms. Sue**, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 5:46pmYou need to find the common denominator to add and subtract fractions.

Since 10 is divisible by 5, the common denominator is 10.

9 4/5 = 9 8/10

Then add the whole numbers and the numerators.

2 3/10 + 9 8/10 = 11 11/10 = 11 1/10
