I assume you have
x+y = -2
8x - y = -2
solve by graphing??
(perhaps to show the concept)
Just add them
9x = -4
x = -4/9
then -4/9+y=-2
y = -14/9
(I doubt if you could have obtained that exact value by looking at a graph)
