Which part of these instructions don't you understand?

1. Find the area of the reservoir.
Area = pi * r^2

2. Find the area of the garden.
A = pi * r^2

3. Subtract the area of the reservoir from the area of the garden.

whats that small triangle mean. r^2

^ means squared.

Area = pi times radius squared

is the answer 417.62

I had a much different answer.

Did you use the radius of each circle, not the diameter?

Did you use 72 inches as the radius of the garden?
