**Reiny**, Monday, May 16, 2011 at 9:05pmcows --- > x

chickens ---> y

x+y = 34

4x + 2y = 110 or 2x + y = 55

subtract them

x = 21

so 21 cows and 13 chickens , total = 34

check:

cowlegs = 84

chickenlegs = 26

total =s 110
