I think it's fading in some cultures, but overall, I think you're right.
I work with Girl Scouts. Few are messy, but some are. A very few are passive. Most are active, competitive, courageous.
Although girls and women might vary in terms of their actual traits, the trait that fits the stereotype is passive. Here is some additional information:
