-2x^2-4x+5=0

is the answer -2.22, 0.22

I have no idea how you got your answers.

Didn't you test them by substituting them back into the equation ?

-2x^2 - 4x + 5 = 0

2x^2 + 4x - 5 = 0

x = (-4 ± √56)/4 = .8708 or -2.8708
