Why were many posts of the rival companies placed next to each other?

This is so confusing. I am thinking that it might be for business matters, but I would like the whole thing please. And no sites, since they do not help me.

To help you understand this question, think about the stores selling similar goods in malls and downtown areas. Why do shoppers prefer these areas?

Shoppers prefer these areas because the stores provide them with their needs and wants?

Think a little more about this question. One store can provide needs and wants. Why do shoppers want more than one store selling similar goods near each other?

Because each store can offer their own benefits of the products/goods that they are selling, so that they can compete. Both stores may have same quality of products as each other, but the benefit is, that one store may offer the product at a lower price than the other.

This is still confusing:/

When you're shopping for shoes, do you want to shop in stores that are near each other -- or would you rather travel 10 miles or more between stores?

Stores near each other usually are competitive for quality and price.

Yeah I would like to shop in stores that are near each other. Oh so the posts of the rival companies were placed next to each other because it was easier for the people to pick up goods.

Right. Prices are competitive and more people will buy from convenient stores.
