Determine the perimeter and area of a rectangle that has a width of 6 inches and a length of 8 inches.

Using a ratio of 1:2, draw a similar rectangle that is double the width and length of the first shape. Determine the perimeter and area of this new rectangle.

Draw one more rectangle using a ratio of 1:3 (a rectangle that is triple the width and length of the original shape).

    Perimeter of rectangle:

    P=2w+2l

    P=2(w+l)

    Area of rectangle:

    A=w*l

    w=width

    l=length


    w=6in l=8in

    P=2(w+l)

    P=2*(6+8)=2*14=28in

    A=w*l=6*8=48in^2


    Ratio 1:2

    w=2*6=12in l=2*8=16in

    P=2(w+l)

    P=2*(12+16)=2*28=56in

    A=w*l=12*16=192in^2


    Ratio 1:3

    w=3*6=18in l=3*8=24in

    P=2(w+l)

    P=2*(18+24)=2*42=84in

    A=w*l=18*24=432in^2
