Do you know the concn of the vinegar stock solution? You will want to use
mL x M = mL x M to arrive at the final volume
1000 mL x 0.1M = mLstock x Mstock
So the exact instructions are to measure the mL stock calculated above, place in a 1-L volumetric flask and add distilled water to the mark on the volumetric flask. Note that I did NOT say, place stock in a flask and add 1000 mL. The final solution must be 1000 mL. Neither did I say, add the stock and add water (1000-mL stock).
