**Jai**, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:35amthat 'n' is actually the Greek letter π which is equal to 3.1416... but since in the problem π = 22/7 , we use this value.

recall that the area of a circle is given by

A = π*r^2

where

r = radius

substituting,

A = π*(7^2)

A = (22/7)(49)

A = 22*7

A = 154 square units

hope this helps~ :)
