If I had these analogies, which would be the most logical answer?

1. Metropolis: necropolis ::
a)condominium:cemetery
b)acropolis:acrophobia
c)acronym:pseudonym
d)megalopolis:necrotic
2. pachyderm:hypodermic ::
a)dermatologist:ectoderm
b)giraffe:telescope
c)pedagogue:demagogue
d)synagogue:mystagogue
Thanks so much!

Look up unfamiliar words in a dictionary. Then tell us what YOU think are the best words to complete the analogies.

I'll be glad to check your answers.

I think the best choices in #1 is d, and the best choice in #2 is a. But I'm not sure if those are the right choices. Thank you!

I agree with your second answer, but not with your first.

Is it A again? I know a necropolis is a cemetery, but is a metropolis a condominium? I don't believe so, but that's the closest match I can find.

I interpret metropolis:necropolis as a home for the living and a home for the dead. That makes a) the best answer. I rejected d) because necrotic is an adjective.

Oh!! I see it now. I just learned I should probably think about words in other ways before getting stumped. :) Thanks!

You're welcome.

Btw -- these are tough!

Yeah I know...I'm doing Word Within the Word. I'm only a 7th grader! :) My teacher uses lets everyone 2 freebies. So you can miss two, and still get an A+. :) Thanks again!
