I'm doing a English project on Sir Thomas More, and I had to make a movie maker project, so we have a choice of what music to play.

The movie maker project is all about his life, teachings, and his writings, basically.

What song should I use? Or any idea what type of genre?

Thanks.

Music from the time of Henry VIII would work!

Thank you so much. More had a great relationship with Henry I believe so this would be perfect.

Yes, a really good relationship ... until Henry seemed to become rather "bipolar"!! (I don't think he was really bipolar, but what he approved of and didn't approve of seemed to be quite quickly changeable, unfortunately.)

PS -- If you haven't seen The Tudors (series), you should. It's available on DVD and through Netflix and other places.

When choosing a song for your English project on Sir Thomas More, it's important to consider the overall theme and mood you want to convey. Since the project is about his life, teachings, and writings, you might want to select a song that aligns with the historical context, his personal beliefs, or the general tone of the content you've included in your movie maker project.

Here are a few ideas for genres and songs that could be fitting:

1. Classical music: Consider using instrumental works from the Renaissance period, which was the time when Sir Thomas More lived. Composers such as William Byrd, Thomas Tallis, or John Dowland could provide a more authentic feel to the project.

2. Hymns or religious music: Sir Thomas More was a deeply religious man, so using hymns or religious songs could be appropriate. Look for hymns from his era or sacred music that reflects the themes of faith and spirituality that were significant to him.

3. Folk or acoustic ballads: If you want a more contemporary approach, folk or acoustic ballads with thoughtful lyrics could work well. Look for songs that touch upon themes of justice, morality, or the pursuit of truth—topics that resonate with More's teachings.

4. Soundtracks from historical or period films: Another idea would be to consider using soundtracks from movies set in the same historical period as Sir Thomas More. Films like "A Man for All Seasons" or "Wolf Hall" could have music that captures the essence of More's life and the time he lived in.

Ultimately, the choice of song will depend on your personal preference and the style you want to convey in your project. Make sure to listen to different options, read the lyrics (if applicable), and consider how well they complement the visuals and information in your presentation.
