Homework Help: Law - understanding terms

I have this worksheet which asks me "historical barriers to achieving equality right" and the other coloumn asks "contemporary barriers to achieving equality rights"

What is the difference between them.. is it the historical one is the history in the late 20th century and contemporary is recent?
