The volume of a cylinder is 1256 meters. The height is 13 meters. Diameter is x. What is the diameter?

Volume of cylinder, 1256 m³

= πd²h/4

h=13, π=3.14159, solve for d.

d² is the same as d*d, or d multiplied by itself.

so

πd²h/4=1256

multiply by 4 on each side,

πd²h = 5024

divide by πh on each side:

d²=5024/(13π)=123

d=√(123)=11 metres.
